Nippon Koei Energy Supports the Waste-to-Energy Development in Indonesia

Our team recently attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Indonesia’s first utility-scale Waste-to-Energy (PSEL) facility. As the Technical Consultant to PT Danantara Investment Management, PT Nippon Koei Energy Indonesia (NKEI) is honored to support the development of this landmark project. The project covers several locations, including Denpasar, Yogyakarta, Bekasi, and Bogor, and aims to transform municipal waste into a reliable source of electricity.

As one of the first large-scale initiatives of its kind supported by Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, the project is designed to process at least 1,000 tonnes of waste per day while reducing the volume of waste sent to landfills. In addition to generating cleaner energy, it will help address environmental and public health challenges associated with waste accumulation in urban areas.

The project reflects NKEI’s commitment to engineering a carbon-neutral future by supporting cleaner sources of power and more sustainable waste management. It is also expected to create local employment opportunities, attract investment, and deliver long-term benefits to communities across Indonesia.
